In the desert of Mankku studio
I decided to blog in english for a little while now! Today I took a long walk to the old city centre of Porvoo and had a cup of coffee in a cosy coffee house. The old centre is absolutely charming with it's small boutiques and postcard like atmosphere. I walked back to the studio on the icy river and enjoyed the view of powder snow puddings.
Now I'm here at Mankku studio. Sitting on a sofa in the control room, just rehearsed guitar pickings for the cover Boys which we are about to record. It 's a pretty tough one to play since I'm not used to have a click in my ear.
Italo folk and disco have been close to my heart since I was a little girl. The idea to cover that song came to me by accident. One day I was reminiscing about my fav dance songs from the 80's and Boys was in the top 5. I was holding my guitar and started to play some chords and explore. On Savior you can hear the outcome. I think Boys is a song of solitude, longing and desire.
I got to say that I'm really happy to work with such a great producer like Janne. I call him a phenomenon! He even sleeps in the studio! Can't wait 'til you hear the songs! We have stayed here for almost six days and still got seven days to go. The songs we've recorded by now (without vocals) are Saviour, Can't Keep My Eyes off U, Faults in My Armor, Black&White and The Night.
On this album I'm blending acoustic and electronic sounds together in an interesting way, picking up influences from the last decades. In the songs we use different kind of layers of synths and samples to support the sound of acoustic guitar and vocals. Also, we have loads of instruments to play with! I love the sound we are creating! Me and Janne are the orchestra!
